Following the fall of MG Rover in 2005, MG XPower - Sport & Racing went into administration as well, followed by a public autcion. The interesting bit was that MG S 'n R did own some very special cars and prototypes.

Lot 698, described as "An MGF 'Supersport California' Design Concept Show Car"

Fitted with a 1.8 litre K Series Engine (non supercharged) with PGI 5-speed close ratio gearbox, up rated brakes, modified suspension, wider track & 17" centre boss competition wheels. It has a cream leather interior with sports seats & full race harness. Interior security & weather protection are provided by the cream fibreglass cabin cover which has driver & passenger opening which can also be covered with a Canvas Tonneau and Fibreglass infill panel respectively.

This car is a Design Concept Vehicle and is fitted with green leather interior & MG Supersports bodywork styling enhancement and has only ever been used as a show car.

It is now (April 2006) again for sale at Oakfields for £15.950
"This car was built as a design concept show car. Originally in black metallic with red leather it was later changed by MG to its current colours of Green chromeflake metallic with green leather trim. It is fitted with MG supersport styling, aerodynamic bodywork honed at Gaydon test facility by Tony Pond. It has only been used as a show car, it has uprated brakes a PG1 5 speed close ratio transmission 17" alloy wheels, wider track and modified body and suspension."
