Q u a i f e  -  6 speed options

Transmission manufacturer Quaife has developed a six-speed conversion for the PG1 gearbox fitted in the MGF, TF and ZR.
An additional gear allows closer ratios between the gears, thus making it easier to keep the engine within its powerband. That not only gives you a performance advantage, it almost makes the car more fun to drive.

These are the options:
- The simplest conversion kit costs £2975 (ex. VAT) and retains the standard shift pattern, making ideal for road and occasional track use.
    Gear ratios:
      1st: 3.125
      2nd: 2.143
      3rd: 1.640
      4th: 1.276
      5th: 1.030
      6th: 0.861
    Final drive ratio:
      3.955
- For £3495, you can have a kit with a dog-leg selector (first gear is back and to the left), as favoured by racing drivers. This is available with helical or straight-cut gears and stronger selector forks, making it the choice for the committed racecar driver.
    Gear ratios:
      1st: 2.583
      2nd: 2.071
      3rd: 1.688
      4th: 1.412
      5th: 1.200
      6th: 1.048
    Final drive ratio:
      3.923      4.214     4.462
- The third option replaces the standard gearshift with a sequential selector, for superfast changes. This kit costs £4250.
    Gear ratios:
      1st: 2.583
      2nd: 2.071
      3rd: 1.688
      4th: 1.412
      5th: 1.200
      6th: 1.048
    Final drive ratio:
      3.923

Quaife can also supply a 5 speed synchro transmission with the following specificaions=
- complete 5 speed synchromesh gearkit
- straight cut, close ratio gears
- can be used with original final drive
- choice of Quaife final drive and 1st gear ratio’s
